Through the intensive exchange between Konsum Leipzig and DRS AG, numerous process optimisations have already been implemented. Currently, another project is tackling the queue that can form at peak times at the checkout. For this purpose, the mobile app is being expanded into a queue-breaker checkout and equipped with a printer and EFT. The customer no longer has to put the items from the trolley onto the conveyor belt and put them back again after scanning. Instead, the store employee scans the goods with the mobile device and can check out directly. Of course, this mode is also completely integrated into the existing branch or checkout system. This leads to reduced waiting times, especially for small purchases and at peak times (Christmas, Easter, Saturday morning). The pilot phase in the first branch will take place in the next few months.
With the drs//POS checkout solution, Konsum Leipzig already has a checkout with empties mode as well as a checkout app. This mobile checkout is used for the delivery of online orders for checkout at the front door. The great advantage of this mobile checkout solution is that it is fully integrated into the branch infrastructure, so that the checkout is carried out with the existing tools in the branch. In addition, the drs//PICK module is used for picking the shopping baskets ordered online. Already today, the branch business is linked to the online shop, in which the processes and the underlying data exchange between the channels are completely digitally mapped.
